How to zoom on a Windows PC

Windows offers several ways to zoom in on the screen, allowing you to take a closer look at its items. We’ll show you how to zoom in and out of your photos, videos, web pages, and other items on your Windows 10 and Windows 11 PC.

Use the magnifying glass to zoom everywhere in Windows

To zoom in on any screen on your PC, use the built-in Magnifier app in Windows. The sole purpose of this app is to help you take a closer look at the icons, menus, and other elements on your screen.

To use this method, first, launch the Magnifier app on your PC. You can do it by opening the menu “Start”searching “Magnifying glass” and selecting the app in the search results.

As soon as Magnifier opens, it will zoom in on your current screen. You will find that the content on your screen is now enlarged. Move the cursor to navigate the screen.

To zoom out, in the Magnifier app, click the icon “-” (less). You can also zoom out by closing the app.

And this is how you identify even the smallest of objects on your PC screen. Very useful!

Use your web browser to zoom in on web pages

Almost all web browsers offer the option to enlarge your web pages. You can invoke this function using a keyboard shortcut or your browser’s menu.

To use it, first launch your preferred web browser and access your web page.

When your web page has loaded, press Ctrl++ to zoom in. That’s the ctrl and key “+” (plus).

To zoom in even further, press the same Ctrl++ keys.

You can then zoom out by pressing Ctrl+-. That is the Ctrl key and the key “-” (less).

If you prefer to use a graphical option, click the menu icon in the upper right corner of your browser and use the icon “+” to zoom in and the icon “-” to drive away

Use the Photos app to zoom in on images

To zoom in on an image, use your PC’s built-in Photos app.

First, open your image with Photos. To do that, right-click your image in File Explorer and select Open With > Photos.

To zoom out, click the option “Ward off” on top. This is a magnifying glass icon with a sign “-“.

Alternatively, you can zoom in by pressing Ctrl++ and zoom out by pressing Ctrl+-. You can also use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out of your photos.

Use VLC Media Player to Zoom Videos

To zoom in on your videos, use the free and open source app VLC Media Player. This app offers an interactive zoom feature that you can use to enlarge parts of your video.

To do that, first, download and install the VLC Media Player app on your PC. Then start your video with the app.

When your video opens, from the VLC menu bar at the top, select Tools > Effects & Filters.

Advice: To disable the zoom function, uncheck the option “interactive zoom” and click “Save” followed by “To close”.

Back on the video page, in the top left corner, you’ll see a small section of your video. Here, select the area of ​​the video you want to enlarge, and that part will appear enlarged in the large area.

Select the area to zoom in.
