James Gunn Details How Nebula Got Rocket’s Gift In GotG’s Holiday Special

It’s been three days since the Disney+ premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special, and director James Gunn has begun answering questions from fans about the Marvel Studios special presentation. For fans who have already watched the 42-minute holiday-themed special, one of the most talked about scenes is Nebula’s surprise Christmas present for Rocket.

If you need a reminder, Rocket tried to buy Bucky’s vibranium arm during the battle scene set in Wakanda in Avengers: infinity war. When Bucky ignores his question, Rocket promises himself that one day he will get that arm. Now in Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas SpecialNebula grants Rocket’s wish by gifting him the Wakandan-made left arm of Bucky, which has sparked the curiosity of fans as to how Nebula got the gift of the Winter Soldier.

Gunn led to Twitter to finally answer this question, revealing that Nebula’s advanced alien technology overpowered Bucky he didn’t want and allowed him to take the arm.

“In Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas SpecialOn a mission to make Christmas unforgettable for Quill, the Guardians head to Earth in search of the perfect gift,” the synopsis reads. The Marvel Studios special presentation stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff, with Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn and The Old 97’s with Michael Rooker and Kevin Bacon.

Features the return of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel as they reprise their respective roles as Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Kraglin, Nebula, Mantis, Rocket, and Groot . They will be joined by MCU newcomers Will Poulter, Chukwudi Iwuji, Daniela Melchior, Maria Bakalova, and Nico Santos.

The space-traveling team was seen earlier in this year’s issue. Thor: Love and Thunder, where they teamed up with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor for some intergalactic adventures in the first act of the film. Although Groot was the focus of the recent series of Disney+ shorts titled i am grootthe team can now be seen on Guardians of the Galaxy Christmas Special prior to guardians of the galaxy vol. 3Released on May 5, 2023.
