Among Sony’s list of upcoming Spider-Man spin-offs is an Olivia Wilde-directed film, rumored to be Spider womanbut the director does not reveal anything about her Marvel project.
Sony’s Spider-Man Universe began with Tom Hardy Poison in 2018 and its 2021 sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage. This year, Jared Leto Morbius was added to the mix, though it wasn’t as well received by Marvel fans.

Is Olivia Wilde directing? Spider woman?
While speaking with Variety, Olivia Wilde opened up about the experience of working on a Marvel movie, but refused to confirm if her current Sony project was actually. Spider woman.
Since it appears that Spider-Man will remain a part of the MCU, where he is played by Tom Holland, for the time being, Sony may be looking at Spider-Woman as an alternate central hero for their Spider-Man Universe. With lady web Rumored to be a spider-themed multi-female hero team-up, it would make sense to see it followed by Spider woman.
When asked about her Sony Marvel project, Olivia Wilde said:
“That, I can’t say a word about that. Yes, no, I can’t say anything about it. I have to bury myself in the sofa now.
“I will say that I think Marvel’s approach of allowing new filmmakers to come in and have access to those tools of the Marvel universe is incredibly exciting. I’m a big fan of what they’re doing there, but yeah, I can’t confirm if that’s what it is. But that would be great.”
Wilde is clearly not letting anything slip about his Marvel project, subject to the strict anti-spoiler policies that surround these types of movies. However, given Madame Web’s status as more of a mystical guide than an outright hero, if Wilde’s project is Spider womanit would mark the first stand-alone entry in Sony’s universe of live-action Spider-Man spin-offs to be based on an actual Marvel superhero.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa from a screenplay written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Morbius stars Jared Leto, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal and Tyrese Gibson. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach produced the project with Lucas Foster, under the supervision of Palak Patel for Sony.
