Sunil Gavaskar and Virender Sehwag criticize Hardik Pandya for upsetting Mohit Sharma during IPL 2023 finals final

Virender Sehwag and sunil gavaskar, two former openers from India, have severely criticized Hardik Pandya. Both former cricketers said that Hardik had no right to “bother” Mohit Sharma after the latter had bowled a solid first half over.

Hardik Pandya led his team admirably, which was one of the main reasons why the Gujarat Titans advanced to their second consecutive final.

IPL 2023 likely saw more final wins than any other season in the tournament’s history, adding to the tension on death bowlers. One can follow the fate of Yash Dayal, as Rinku Singh had done, or one could succeed as Sandeep Sharma did against the legendary MS Dhoni. After his incredible start against Chennai Super Kings in the 2023 IPL championship game in Ahmedabad on Monday, Mohit Sharma was on his way to join the last group. But that all changed when CSK batsman Ravindra Jadeja scored a brilliant five wicket victory, giving them their fifth IPL championship.

In an interview with Cricbuzz, Sehwag made similar claims, claiming that Mohit’s errors on line and length on the final two balls were due to Hardik’s behavior, which “disturbed” him.

“When someone bowls well and meets the Yorkers, why would you go talk to him? He knows the hitter needs to go 10-for-2 and he needs to stay with the Yorkers. So why are you wasting his time? If Mohit had been hit for runs then he could have gone and had a word, but when the bowler is doing his job you want to finish the over quickly.

“It could also be that the captain has come in with concerns as to whether the bowler would want any changes on the pitch for the last two balls. But still, if he had been there, he wouldn’t have bothered him. Virender Sehwag said.

“No one should have told him anything” – Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar reacted furiously when Hardik distracted Mohit during the last two dances while speaking to India Today. Sunil Gavaskar, a former cricketer from India, drew attention to the case where Mohit was given water before the penultimate pitch and Hardik later on the pitch to talk to him about both deliveries. Sunil Gavaskar thinks that since Mohit was following his plan, there was no need.

“He threw the first 3-4 installments absolutely brilliantly. Then, for some strange reason, they sent him some water, in the middle of an over. Then Hardik came and spoke to him,” Sunil Gavaskar said.

“When the pitcher is in that rhythm and mentally there as well, no one should have to tell him anything. Nothing at all. From a distance just say good bowling. Going to him, talking to him, that was not the right thing to do. Suddenly Mohit was looking here and there.” added Sunil Gavaskar.

Jadeja helped her team win the IPL title, setting a record-tying fifth time, with a 15-run performance in just six balls that included a six and cap in the final two deliveries.
